What is Art Club?
Our Art Clubs are designed to support the creative and curious minds of children. We appreciate the differences in learning styles and offer a variety of approaches to our classes. We are always open to children guiding themselves and utilizing the materials offered to create what their imaginations come up with, however if children need a little more guidance or inspiration, we are here to offer ideas and assist them in any way they need.
Rarely do we run classes that are step-by-step or that have an end product in mind. We focus on PROCESS art and love watching each child's interpretation!
What is Process Art?
Process Art is the journey we take to create a piece of art. It's the joy of experimenting with new materials, seeing how different textures or colours work together, and using our wildest imaginations to bring our ideas to life.
We enjoy teaching certain skills and offering instruction on techniques, however we never force it on the children. Some children are focused on their vision or enjoy just having their space to relax and do their thing, and the biggest feedback we get from the kids is
"I love it here, because I can do what I want."
What are the Benefits?
Life can feel so busy sometimes, with so many expectations, and maybe it isn't always an option to sit and be creative and just be present with yourself. Art Club offers an hour of uninterrupted time for children to spend time with themselves, and to listen to their own thoughts.
Our studio is filled wall to wall with new and recycled materials, and at Art Club the children have full access to whatever they'd like to use. We put out invitational materials on the tables to spark ideas, however we allow the children that time to follow their own lead, and the emotional regulation this fosters is unbeatable!
